Movement Models Based Performance Comparison of Routing Protocols in Delay Tolerant Networks

چکیده
Delay-tolerant networks have the great potential to connecting devices and regions of the world that are being presently under-served by current networks. A challenge for Delay Tolerant Networks is to determine the routes through the network without having an end to end connection at any given instant of time. In DTN the routing of packets is done using store-carry-forward mechanism. In this paper, four popular routing protocols in DTN namely; Epidemic, Direct Delivery, Spray & Wait, Prophet have been considered for performance evaluation. The performance of these routing protocols has been evaluated using Shortest Path Movement models. KEYWORDs: Delay-tolerant networks, Routing protocols, Message Delivery, Simulation

Energy-Aware Probabilistic Epidemic Forwarding Method in Heterogeneous Delay Tolerant Networks
Due to the increasing use of wireless communications, infrastructure-less networks such as Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) should be highly considered. DTN is most suitable where there is an intermittent connection between communicating nodes such as wireless mobile ad hoc network nodes. In general, a message sending node in DTN copies the message and transmits it to nodes which it encounters. A...

Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are receiving a significant interest and are becoming very popular in the world of wireless networks and telecommunication. MANETs consist of mobile nodes which can communicate with each other without any infrastructure or centralized administration. In MANETs, the movement of nodes is unpredictable and complex; thus making the routing of the packets challenging....

Today, one of the new technologies in the modern era is Vehicular Ad-hoc Network which has takenenormous attention in the recent years. Because of rapid topology changing and frequent disconnectionmakes it difficult to design an efficient routing protocol for routing data between vehicles, called V2V orvehicle to vehicle communication and vehicle to roadside infrastructure, called V2I. Designin...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of Routing Protocols in Delay/Disruption Tolerant Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
In the last few years research activity in delay/disruption tolerant networks (DTN) is growing and researchers have proposed various types of routing protocols. Those efforts formulate DTN to become the adequate solution for the challenged network environment. DTN architecture provides good performance in the intermittently connected Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET). Routing in DTN architecture i...
متن کاملUrban Delay Tolerant Network Simulator (UDTNSim v0.1)
Delay Tolerant Networking (DTN) is an approach to networking which handles network disruptions and high delays that may occur in many kinds of communication networks. The major reasons for high delay include partial connectivity of networks as can be seen in many types of ad-hoc wireless networks with frequent network partitions, long propagation time as experienced in inter-planetary and deep ...
